Welcome

In its collection, the Axle, Wheel and Carriage Museum in Wiehl presents artefacts dating from prehistoric times to the 21st century, which illustrate the cultural and technological history of the drawn wagon over a period of more than 5 500 years. The last century is demonstrated using the firm and product history of the BPW Bergische Achsen KG in Wiehl.

Library

A reference library is affiliated with the museum, which can be visited for research purposes by prior arrangement. It is a scientific speciality library covering the topics of axle, wheel and carriage, and contains specialist books, magazines, company literature and brochures. The collections contain many historical rarities about the history of mobility.

The company’s own publication “Achse, Rad und Wagen. Beiträge zur Geschichte der Landfahrzeuge“, Issue 1 (1991) to 14 (2006), can be bought locally or ordered while stocks last. For this, please send us a written order by post, fax or e-mail.
